Becoming a social activist... We are sometimes so focused on the individual, we lose sight of the power and responsibility we have as social workers to affect change at a structural level. In this unit, students had the opportunity to learn about social injustices which impact on the lives of people they are supporting in practice and to raise awareness of an issue which is important to them. They have used their voice in ways which will improve outcomes for those they encounter in their social work practice and for wider society.
