Social Work CPD Newsletter September 2022
7th September 2022
I hope you all had the chance to enjoy the warm and sunny summer months. Now autumn and shorter days are approaching fast, and it feels like a good time to reach out to you and share news from BU.
The new Academic year has started and we are welcoming all of our students back. Our CPD offer remains largely online for the Social Sciences and Leadership units to meet the ongoing needs of our practice partners. However, there is flexibility within this and if your organisation would like to discuss the option to run a whole cohort face to face, please get in contact with us. (lenzt@bournemouth.ac.uk)
Some students have shared with us that they would like to have the opportunity to have access to some in person tutorials and visit the library. We want to offer all of our students the chance to ‘have a day at Uni’ and welcome them on the 06.10.22 from 10am-3pm for our new Critical Thinking and Writing workshops. My colleagues Richard Williams and Michael Knight will facilitate an interactive session to support academic reading and writing for our CPD students. Our librarian Jan Hutt will offer a tour of the library and Unit leads can be approached for tutorials on the day. (An email with joining instruction will be send to all current students. We are planning for run the days 3 times a year to enable students across units to take part.
After our successful Management and Leadership conference last year, I am really excited to be able to invite you to our next event on the 9th December 2022! This conference will be aimed at managers and practice leaders in Health and Social Care with a focus on Retention and Inclusion. We are hot in the planning stages but I can confirm that already that we will be streaming online from 9.30 to 13.30 to offer an engaging and critical view on how workplaces can be safe and inclusive for everyone. I look forward to see you there!
Below is our list of CPD units- please feel free to share those with your colleagues and reach out if you have any queries.
Thanks and take care
