Social Work CPD Newsletter May 2022

23rd May 2022

As we araerial photo of people near beache moving into the summer months, I wanted to keep you up to date with the developments at Bournemouth University and the CPD departments.

First of all I would like to share some amazing news with you: We have been assessed as high quality in our research activities through the REF- the Research Excellence Framework. It is the UK’s system for assessing the quality of research in UK universities. I am very proud to say that the case studies submitted by the Health and Social Sciences Department were excellent and we could evidence that 94% of BU’s research activities are recognised to be internationally recognised and 19% we of world-leading quality.

Research is very much an integral part of all lecturer’s workload and we seek to inform our teaching through this. To share some of our very recent findings with Social Work Practice Educators, I am very pleased to be able to invite you to our inaugural session for our new Seminar Series for Practice Education! On the 8th June 2022 Dr Louise Oliver, Dr Orlanda Harvey, Ros Dray and I will present our work under the theme of ‘Constructive Feedback’  and we look forward to see you all there! Please book your space through Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/x/social-work-practice-education-exploring-how-to-give-constructive-feedback-tickets-303354811407

Although the normal University Semester is nearing its end, the CPD Framework continues across and throughout the year to meet your practice, learning and developmental needs. I am very pleased to be able to share with you the units that we are offering over the next few months.

Please feel free to contact us via email if you have any questions regarding admissions or how you can build you award with previous academic credits. hsspostregadmissions@bournemouth.ac.uk

As ever, please contact me if you have queries or suggestions for our CPD offer or if you would like to commission a cohort to be delivered Face to Face rather than online for your organisation. (lenzt@bournemouth.ac.uk)

Take care
